1 The two tables shown here are part of a set of six, a long and a short for three bedrooms. The structure is the same for all of them but there is some variation in stain colour.
2 Solid maple is a difficult wood to stain, but the overall effect of these tables was good.
3 The shallowness of this marble fireplace surround belies the extent of the work necessary to accomodate it. Mounting it flush like this requires cutting a big hole in the exterior wall and boxing it out to house the actual gas fireplace and vent.
4 A solid maple ladder with treads mortised into the rails for strength leads up to the loft's gated railing.
5 This playful assembly of variously stained solid maple shapes was made to display the names of donors for a new day-care center. It required some meticulous and repetitive work.
6 This stack of seven computer desks is ready to be delivered and assembled. Up top are the moniter and tower shelves. Next are the desk tops, then the backs and then the sides. All exposed edges are faced with laminate, and the pieces are held together with knock-down hardware. I've made over seventy-five of these things since 1993 - the closest I've come to production work.
